From cram school to design hotel: the story of an old building reborn

3 Door Hotel stands on Chenggong Road, once a bustling street. It began as a thirty-year-old cram school building. We rebuilt the old house anew, and it was transformed into a design hotel with a character of its own. In the course of repair and reinforcement we deliberately kept part of the traditional architectural imagery, creating a beauty of contrast in which old and new merge.

Walking through the fresh interior of the hotel, you may be delighted to find terrazzo flooring from the 1960s, or the structure of an old staircase preserved beside a modern lift. This is not only design but respect for the history of this land.

A story on every floor: the design thinking of one world per room

The seven-storey hotel has more than thirty rooms, and every floor and every room presents a different face. We have brought the many images of old Fucheng into the rooms so that you can stay inside a story:

• Floors of varied style:They include a feminine style, a Fucheng style, an architectural style, an industrial style and an artistic style, each floor with a theme of its own.
• Fucheng imagery woven in:In the rooms you may find a Japanese style, the wooden roofs of Shennong Street, or a playful tree house painted on the wall.
• Modern and traditional side by side:Fair-faced concrete walls meet an architectural style, and wood and iron interlace along an industrial corridor; every detail is a cultural conversation.

We care not only about beauty but also pour the idea of sustainability into every corner of the hotel, building a place to stay that saves energy, reduces allergens and is kind to the environment in every respect.

Design for saving energy and reducing carbon

• High-efficiency systems:The public areas use high-efficiency LED lights and a heat pump system, effectively saving 25% to 30% of energy consumption.
• Intelligent reduction:Low-radiation building materials and heat-insulating paint lower indoor energy use, and all equipment carries the energy-saving label.

A non-toxic, friendly environment

• A healthy, allergen-free space:The whole hotel is designed free of formaldehyde, and no carpet is laid, reducing allergens and dust.
• Green materials:Solid wood and recycled materials are used extensively, reflecting our care for natural resources.
• Amenities kind to the earth:The bath amenities in the rooms come from a green supply chain and use organic ingredients, treating both your skin and the earth gently.

Awarded the environmental label: recognition for sustainability

It is exactly this care that brought us recognition in 2024 with the bronze-grade environmental label. According to the latest figures, only 109 hotels in all of Taiwan have passed this certification, and in Tainan City there are only 11. This honour is the starting point for our continuing practice of sustainable hospitality, and we invite you to join us on this green journey.

Exploring Fucheng: an excellent starting point for low-carbon travel

3 Door Hotel stands right in front of Tainan Railway Station, with exceptionally convenient transport. We encourage and support our guests in exploring Fucheng by low-carbon means such as walking and public transport.

From the hotel it is very easy to reach well-known sights such as the Confucius Temple district, the Tainan Art Museum, the Chihkan Tower district, the Hayashi Department Store and the National Museum of Taiwan Literature. This is not only travel but choosing an attitude to living.
