Where to stay in Tainan 2026 | 3 Door Hotel: the complete Q&A
Design, service, transport and parking, all in one place

I am very fond of Tainan.

Turn one more corner, or pass a roundabout somewhere in the city, and you suddenly meet an old building: red brick walls, old windows, sometimes a temple or a monument, quietly holding the marks of time.

The people are the same. Warm, but not loud; friendly, but never forced.

And one more important thing:Tainan is sweet.

Perhaps that is why, among all the recommended places to stay in Tainan, 3 Door Hotelhas chosen a slower way to introduce travellers to this city.

This article gathers the most complete Q&A about staying with us – design, room types, service, transport and parking – so you can choose with confidence before you book.

A homecoming ritual that begins with a door

Many first-time visitors stop at the entrance. The understated but finely made hexagonal floor tiles underfoot are not simply decoration.

The design comes from the idea of Mingyuan: hexagons like a tortoise shell, standing for prosperity and long life, and once a standard found only in grand houses. The floor is drawn in copper and gold, and the door frame is made of rose copper.

It makes no announcement, but step inside and you feel that care. This is a design philosophy of concealing on the outside and revealing within.

It is also 3 Door Hotel’s first impression.

Q1: Is 3 Door Hotel worth staying at?

If what you want is a hotel for one night’s sleep, Tainan has many options.

But if what you are looking for issomewhere clean, comfortable and warm with people in it– a space where you can genuinely relax and feel safe staying – then 3 Door Hotel will suit you well.

The Essence

“Welcome home” is the most important service we offer

The phrase is said every day. But to someone just back from a day out, it is more than a courtesy.

It is a change of state:
the moment you come back from the world outside into somewhere safe.

Q2: How is 3 Door Hotel different from an ordinary Tainan hotel?

The biggest difference is that it is not a new hotel built from scratch but an old building transformed.Much of the original structure and its traces have been kept– terrazzo floors among them – so that the layers of time remain naturally within the architecture and the space carries more of a story.

The whole building takes Tainan’s history as its axis, laid out in reverse chronology from the Dutch period and the Japanese era through to the modern and the contemporary, so that each floor is a slice of the city’s time. What you see here is therefore not only a design language buta way of preserving time.

The building was previously a cram school of several decades’ standing. The original layout was fairly narrow and the floor heights limited. A team with an architectural background carried out a full conversion, keeping the existing structure while using a rich vocabulary of materials and mirrored surfaces to rebalance the visual proportions and the sense of space, giving the lobby room to breathe again.

At the same time, the reception desk and the bar were combined into one, creatingan extended space with the ease of having a quiet drink at home. It gives guests a comfortable corner in the evening and makes the circulation and the language of the space more consistent throughout.

Q3: What do reviews actually say? What do people who have stayed think?

Ranked TripAdvisor third among hotels in West Central District and rated above 4.5 starsGoogle Maps , 3 Door Hotel’s reviews show a high degree of loyalty. We have gathered the most recent guest feedback from 2026 into the following themes:

What guests praise (Pros)

“As warm as coming home”
Butler service is what guests praise most. Many mention thatstaff have the warmth of a friend next doorand remember their preferences in detail.

“The bed is so comfortable I wanted to buy one”
TheAmerican RESTONIC mattresses and high-quality pillowsare a genuine relief for business travellers and anyone on a long journey.

“A haven for allergy sufferers”
Carpet-free terrazzo and wooden floors throughout, along with deep ozone cleaning, mean guests sensitive to dust mites can sleep easily.

There is no over-packaging here, but there isa rhythm that puts people at ease..

Q4: What room types are there, who do they suit, and how do I choose?

The Tianbu series

Suited to guests who need more space and care about a complete stay. The rooms are planned generously, with the bathroom inside the room so that everything flows within one space – ideal for anyone who values convenience and privacy.

▍Double rooms

Tianbu Art | one king bed (180 x 200 cm)
Tianbu Light | two single beds (105 x 200 cm x 2)
Size: about 9 – 9.8 ping

▍Quad rooms

Tianbu Treetop | two double beds (150 x 200 cm x 2)
Size: about 13 – 15 ping

Built on a generous plan, the quad rooms suit families or friends travelling together, keeping shared space while preserving everyone’s comfort.

 The Yazhi series

Yazhi Art | one double bed (150 x 200 cm)
Yazhi Light | two single beds (105 x 200 cm x 2)
About 5-6 ping

The bathrooms in the Yazhi series are separate and sit outside the room,
buteach is for your exclusive use – they are not shared bathrooms.
. These rooms are particularly popular with the following guests:

▍Those who want quiet sleep

Without bathroom extraction, plumbing or humidity nearby, the sleeping environment is simpler and quieter.

▍Those sensitive to air and damp

With the bathroom separated from the sleeping space, the room holds less moisture and the air feels fresher.

▍Light travellers

If you are out all day and return only to rest, sleep quality and the feel of the room matter more than using facilities inside it.

▍Those who like a Japanese sense of living

Some guests actively enjoy the rhythm of getting up, washing and returning to the room to rest – it has the relaxed feel of a Japanese inn.

Q5: What are the rooms like?

There are no dead-end or windowless rooms anywhere in the hotel, and every room has a large exterior window bringing in natural light. Each room also has its own individual air conditioning unit, so the temperature stays steady and comfortable.

A comfortable space built through environmental control

In designing the space, one of the things we set out to do was reduce disturbance while improving how it feels to live in.

▍Reducing disturbance

A motor-free silent fridge, keeping night-time noise down
Airtight windows, effectively shutting out external noise

▍Reducing pollutants

No carpet anywhere in the hotel, thoroughly reducing dust mites and allergens
Generous use of cypress and solid timber, returning to natural textures
Open wardrobes, reducing sources of odour from the fit-out

▍Upgraded equipment

Six-star grade mattresses
German imported bathroom fittings
Japanese INAX washlet toilets

These choices are not about stacking up specifications but returning to what staying somewhere is fundamentally about:
letting travellers rest easily.

Attention to detail is what creates real peace of mind

People often say you can judge a place by its details.
From whether the mirrors are clean and the corners free of dust, to the places you cannot see, there is a standard for everything.

What genuinely reassures is not the surface
but the places you never noticed.

Q6: Is the location convenient, and what is nearby?

The hotel is in the heart of the city, about a five-minute walk from Tainan Railway Station, so transport is very easy. The surrounding area is well served, and eating or walking is simple to arrange.Classic Tainan sights such as Chihkan Tower, Guohua Street and Shennong Street are all within walking distance.

To go further afield, there is WeMo, GoShare and YouBike as well as excellent bus routes, and scooter rental shops nearby. Whether you prefer to walk, ride or take transport, everything connects easily from here.

Q7: Does 3 Door Hotel have parking? Is parking easy?

The hotel does not have its own car park, butthere is plenty of parking nearby and finding a space is not difficult. There is a paid car park about 50 metres in front of the hotel, the Tainan Hospital behind us has parking open to the public, and there are on-street bays in the area.

Most guests drop their luggage at the door first and then park, so the process is straightforward with no back and forth. (Parking charges follow each car park’s own notices and are the guest’s responsibility.)

Q8: How do I get to 3 Door Hotel by public transport?

▍By train

From the front exit of Tainan Railway Station, walk towards the city and you reach the hotel inabout five minutes. The whole route is flat and easy to find, even on a first visit.

▍By coach

Get off at Tainan Bus Station and walk about 10 minutes.

▍By high-speed rail

From THSR Tainan Station you have two options:

👉 Take a taxi directly to the hotel, about 20-30 minutes
👉 Transfer inside the station to the TRA Shalun line to Tainan Railway Station, then walk about 5 minutes

Overall, 3 Door Hotel sits in the heart of the city, with no complicated transfers or route-finding needed, so even a first visit is easy.

Q9: What special spaces does 3 Door Hotel have?

The lobby serves black tea and tea jelly; the tea uses A+ grade leaves from Puli in Nantou, brewed fresh by a butler every day. Beside it, the self-service snack bar offersfree old-fashioned Tainan snacks: five-spice Guai Guai, kali-kali and pig’s ear crisps – those simple, familiar flavours that quietly relax people.

The ground floor combines reception with a bar, and in the evening we also serveTainan craft beer, so you can enjoy an easy drink without leaving the hotel.

The eighth-floor reading room and sky garden are also available forvenue hire in Tainan, with a projector and microphones. Q14: We hear your room introduction service is well known. What do the butlers help with?

What people talk about most at 3 Door Hotel is the way we combinethe precision of an English butler with the attentiveness of a Japanese okami. Showing you to your room here has never meant simply handing over a key and pointing down a corridor; it is an immersive welcome with real warmth.

The Rooming Ceremony

An immersive welcome to your room

01 – The welcome

On arrival, a butler shows you to the lobby, where reception and bar meet, and serves black tea brewed from Nantou leaves alongside traditional Tainan snacks, to take the journey off you.

02 – A personal tour of your room

Once inside, a butler explains the equipment personally, including the room’s environmental controls and the top-tier bathroom fittings from Germany’s V&B and Japan’s INAX.

03 – A welcome surprise

Open the door and you will usually find an animal folded from towels by hand on the bed – an elephant, a dog, a peacock – the softest possible way of showing hospitality.

More than showing you the room: your own expert on the old city

Beyond check-in, our butlers offer a range of bespoke services that set the experience apart:

📍 Trip planning and insider advice
Not sure where to go? A butler can suggest local favourites and a food map at any time, and even help you adjust your itinerary.

🧸 Hands-on towel animal workshop
If the surprise on the bed intrigues you, book a slot anda butler will come to your room and teach you how to fold towel animals– lovely for families.

🛎️ Help with anything
Arranging a car, booking a restaurant, or organising a birthday or proposal setup – our butlers can handle all of it.

Showing you to your room at 3 Door Hotel is, through the warmth of a butler,
a way of conveying from your first moment inside that people come first.

Why do so many people come back?

Some hotels are forgotten as soon as you leave.
But some places stay with you.

Perhaps it is the black tea, perhaps the lighting,
perhaps simply a “welcome home” offered at exactly the right moment.

What 3 Door Hotel wants to give travellers is more than a room

There are many recommended places to stay in Tainan. What 3 Door Hotel wants to offer is

not the most lavish, but exactly the right comfort;
not the most showy, but the details that let people relax.

From the tiles at the entrance to a cup of black tea, from the mattress to a greeting – these are the things we do every day.

Founder’s Message

From the founder | An image I have never been able to let go of

Before becoming the founder of 3 Door Hotel, I spent years designing bespoke luxury homes and founded 3L Architecture. In those years, what I faced daily was exacting dimensions, rigorous construction and expensive, meticulous spaces.

But a thought never left me.
If even a space as fine as this ends up only as something to show off, when does a person actually get treated well?

Many people have asked me: you were doing well designing bespoke homes, so why open a hotel? I always smile first, because the answer is simple.

I have always felt that staying at a hotel should not just be sleeping somewhere. It should feel likeliving in a superb home and being attended to with real care.

With that intention, I brought the standards of building a luxury home into 3 Door Hotel. From spatial proportion, the warmth of materials and the layering of light to every detail a traveller actually uses, we wanted not only beauty but comfort; not only luxury but warmth.

The moment that made me decide to change

I still remember one scene. A traveller came into a hotel dragging a suitcase. They looked exhausted, and the only thing reception asked was: “Do you have a booking number?”

In that moment I thought –
if that were me, what I would rather be asked first is:
“Are you all right? That must have been a long day.”

And 3 Door Hotel really did begin from that question.

Two cultures, becoming one service

When designing 3 Door Hotel I held one clear principle: we do not design the process first, we design how it feels.

So there is no deliberate performance here and no over-scripted service language. What we care about more is consideration that happens naturally. A traveller might mention in passing that they are tired, and we will remember that they need quiet; they might look a moment longer at a map of Tainan, and we will want to share the lanes only locals know.

Because real service is never something arranged in advance.
It is a willingness to stand where the other person is standing and think a little further.

3 Door Hotel brings together the close observation of the Japanese okami tradition with the precision and rhythm of the English butler. What we ask of our team is not only to complete a task, but first to understand what a traveller actually needs.Because genuinely good service is not doing one more thing; it is leaving someone one less thing to worry about.

Five Hearts Service is our only standard

That thinking became the Five Hearts Service that 3 Door Hotel has always held to:
assurance, ease, care, thoughtfulness and joy.

So that guests can rest easily, the whole hotel is carpet-free and uses individual air conditioning:we would rather leave the allergens outside the door.

To show genuine care, we use more than 70% environmentally responsible materials along with cypress. Because I have always believed that a good space must answer not only to the people staying in itbut to this city and this land.

For me, 3 Door Hotel has never simply been a hotel.
It is more a place where people can set their tiredness down for a while and feel the warmth of living again.

I hope everyone who comes here leaves with more than memories:
with a sense that they were genuinely well looked after.

Epilogue

If you are looking for somewhere in Tainan that lets you slow down

If you are planning a trip to Tainan in 2026, you will probably walk a great deal, eat a great deal and take a great many photographs.

But what stays with you afterwards is rarely the itinerary. It is how it felt.

And we will be here, on the other side of the door.
When you step inside, you will hear one sentence:

welcome home
