[Tainan Attractions] Recommended itineraries for family travel in Da Nei and Zuozhen

It’s time for another three-day and two-night trip to Tainan. A place full of food and fantasy, with a 400-year history of historical fermentation chain, all non-fanatic art, in addition to fanaticism, Catholicism, Catholicism, I-Kuan Tao and other religious beliefs, in fact, in Tainan also includes Tibetan Buddhism, authentic Thai Buddhism, Taiwan Pingpu beliefs, etc. In Tainan, Siraya is their main Pingpu tribe, so we will mention it in our introduction, and also let you know a little history and background of Siraya. Without further ado, let’s start today’s tour. Miscellaneous notes!

The Tainan hotel I want to recommend this time is the “Sandaomen Cultural and Creative Hotel”. In recent years, cultural and creative stores have flourished, and they have their own characteristics and strengths. It is in front of the station and is just across the old city from the north district, so it is suitable for going anywhere. Friends who don’t drive may also worry about traffic issues. Bicycle services are provided at Sandaomen, and there are dispatch services and transportation tools outside the car. The rooms are also quite large (much larger than in the image). In the crowded city center, there are probably no other hotels that have rooms as large as 20 to 30 square meters, where you can run, jump and play. After putting down the luggage, start following the planned itinerary! This time we took a “deep Tainan” tour, not taking the tourist route, but focusing on an in-depth tour of the mountains and forests. The mountain scenery you see in Tainan is very different from that in other counties and cities. The mountains are not high, but you can see a scene that looks like a moon world. There are mountains stacked up along the way, and then we arrived at our first stop in Tainan – the Garden Waterway Museum. There were not many tourists in the park in the morning, so you can walk around and take pictures as much as you want. It is the most popular IG check-in attraction recently. The buildings in the park are waterway buildings preserved from the Japanese colonial period. They were designed to solve Tainan’s water supply problem at the time. This is the first time I’ve visited a history museum that specifically introduces the water supply plant among all the historical buildings I’ve visited. In addition to a complete analysis of the park, a variety of plants are also planted around it, and there is also the most charming cactus area (clap). It is indeed a must-visit attraction for Internet celebrities. There are also a variety of goods and foods for sale in the park. When the weather is hot, you must come and try the homemade ice cream in the park to cool down and quench your thirst.

After the end, we had our first meal in Tainan. For lunch, we chose Tainan cuisine – Guozheng Canteen. Then we came to our second stop, Tainan tourist attraction – Orchid Botanical Garden, which, as the name suggests, is for viewing orchids. The Phalaenopsis orchid cultivation technology in Taiwan can be said to be world-class, on par with the orchid technology in the Netherlands, and accounts for 80% of the world’s sales. Seeing Phalaenopsis orchids in the Orchid Garden is like going to a gardening store to look at plants. There are all kinds of strange orchids, some bigger than a human and some smaller than a palm. The orchids hanging above seem to have arrived in a tropical rain forest. The various orchid introductions are very suitable for the whole family to come and take a look. There is also a restaurant inside where you can dine, and they use local edible orchids from Tainan in their dishes, which is quite unique. But to end the first day’s itinerary, the dinner I want to introduce is Tainan delicacy – Ido Zan Noodle Shop.

In the afternoon, we arrived at the highlight of this Tainan tour – the Totoro Painted Village, a famous Tainan attraction known throughout Taiwan. Three hours of shooting here would not be enough (just kidding), but at least two hours would be enough, because in the Painted Village, it is not just a small area with painted walls, but the walls of the entire village are painted. The famous Totoro bus stop is right at the entrance, so be careful of the passing vehicles when taking pictures. Wander around the village looking for the various paintings on every wall, including Totoro, Snoopy, LINE stickers of Panda, Doraemon, Mickey Mouse, Mr. Bean, Bambi, etc. Take photos wherever you go to heal everyone’s heart. The quiet village also has some small shops specializing in selling drinks and coffee, as well as the nostalgic tangerine shops that can only be seen in the countryside, so you don’t have to worry about your mouth going dry while taking photos. By the way, I’d like to give you some scientific knowledge. In fact, Da Nei is also the hometown of avocado. There is a Da Nei grocery store hidden here, which introduces the little secrets of avocado. In addition to eating the seeds of avocado, you can also use it to make tea. WHAT? That’s right, it’s brewed tea. In addition to brewed tea, they also sell avocado seed noodles and souvenirs. It seems that it is going to compete with Guanmiao noodles and salt water pasta (just kidding). Local good products and good culture must be well developed and promoted. After the event, we went to eat Tainan’s famous food, Alan’s Oyster Cake.

The trip has come to the third day, and time has passed very quickly. This is the favorite area for “In-depth Tainan” tourism – Zuozhen District. The places to visit include Erliao Sunrise, Zuozhen Fossil Museum and Gema Geju Temple. We had to leave the hotel before dawn and head to Zuozhen Erliao. There was a very popular TV series called “Why is My Mother-in-Law So Cute?” and there was a scene where the heroine Xiao Ou and the hero Fa Gui watched the sunrise alone, and that place was Zuozhen Erliao.

What does it feel like to watch the sunrise deep in the mountains? It feels like the scene in the movie King Kong, surrounded by mountains, forests and the wonders of the moon world. If you listen to the music Two Step From Hell and don’t look at the Chinese road signs, it really feels like watching the sunrise abroad. Besides being moved, the beauty is shocking. After that, we rushed to Zuozhen to eat the famous local delicacy – Grandma Xiu’e’s shop, which is the most traditional breakfast shop in the area. ETTV News also interviewed us here and it is the local must-eat breakfast choice. Next is the second stop in Zuozhen, the Zuozhen Fossil Museum, which was widely reported by major news media when it opened a few years ago. The Zuozhen Fossil Museum is on Provincial Highway 20, making it very easy to find. The clean and white fossil museum is filled with a herd of sika deer hanging in the sky. This is also a statement to let more people know about Taiwan’s endemic species. There are also dinosaur fossils on display nearby. The exhibition flow and planning are very clear, and there is also an audio-visual room that introduces the origins of the fossils in the museum, which is quite convenient. The fossils in the museum were mainly unearthed from the eastern Tainan area, including Zuozhen, Da’nei, Yujing, and the mountains. However, the most cultural relics were unearthed in Zuozhen, mainly because of the local Pingpu culture – the main activity range and residence of the Siraya people at that time. There are introductions to human fossils, dinosaur fossils, mammoths from the Ice Age, etc. After seeing this, are you starting to doubt whether you have Pingpu ancestry? You can also look for fossils by yourself. There is also a patio in the park for tourists to take photos. In addition to viewing with your eyes, you can also play with your hands. It is indeed a paradise for children. For lunch, choose Zuozhen’s local delicacy – Chef Aqi’s Traditional Noodle House. It takes less than 15 minutes to drive along the Yujing route of Provincial Highway 20 to the last stop of the tour – Karma Kagyu Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. It is also my personal hobby that I recommend visiting the most – Tibetan Buddhist temples. In Taiwan, where knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism is very limited, you may not have the opportunity to visit them in the county or city where you live, but there are three Tibetan Buddhist temples in the south alone. The Karma Kagyu Monastery is the largest Tibetan monastery in Taiwan. The Chuan Fo Buddhist Temple, whether it is the magnificent architecture, the solemn Buddha statues, the thangka carving museum, the camouflage painting, the Buddha jade murals, etc., are all worthy of travelers’ careful appreciation. The building includes: When you come here, you can enjoy the fun of appreciating art and cultural relics. You may even feel like you are in Tibet. For dinner on the return trip, we chose the representative of Zuozhen cuisine – Zuozhen charcoal grilled chicken.
