Japanese architectural attractions in West Central District, Tainan
Former Tainan Wude Hall
Cycling is the best way to see the most beautiful scenery. Walking is too slow and driving is too fast. Cycling is the easiest way to discover the most beautiful scenery. This time, we took a slow-living tour in the ancient capital of Tainan and experienced a slow travel in the local old house architecture. The geographical location of this hotel is very convenient. It is located on Chenggong Road in the West Central District of the lively and popular Danhuang District. The pedals can be ridden for free. Traveling is to explore the touch of life and leave beautiful memories. I unexpectedly discovered Zhongyi Elementary School in the Central and Western District. Its building is quite similar to traditional Japanese shrine architecture. It was a dojo built by the Great Japan to promote martial arts during the Japanese colonial period. The scale of the building materials that have been preserved to this day shows the quality of the design and construction. It is a municipal historic site and is amazing.
The west side of the second floor is a martial arts hall, the east side is a kendo hall, and there is also a square dojo, and the north side is an altar. This turned out to be the auditorium of Zhongyi National Elementary School. How cool! But unfortunately, because it is an elementary school auditorium, it is not open during school hours. You can only appreciate it on holidays! When taking pictures, I found that the roof is very special. After checking the literature, it turned out that the Wude Hall building is an interview with the Tang Dynasty hip roof. The roof is formed by 19 ridges. The two ends of the main ridge to the eaves are broken once in the middle, as if it had a “rest”. At that time, the Japanese called it an Irumoya-style roof, hence the name. Currently, Tainan Wude Hall is a mixture of Western-style architecture and Japanese-style Oriental features, which truly feels the time and creates the historical value of cultural relics and architectural monuments. As the world is unable to travel abroad by plane due to the spread of the epidemic, we highly recommend a trip to the ancient capital of Tainan, which is like an in-depth tour of Kyoto, Japan. The old houses and old buildings are located in a city full of cultural heritage and thickness of life. It is a slow travel with warm and beautiful time.
