Tainan (West Central District) National First-Class Historic Sites
Tainan Confucius Temple
The Tainan Confucius Temple has a history of more than 300 years. Walking into it is like traveling through time and space back to ancient times. This is the first Confucian temple in Taiwan where children can only attend school, so it is also called Taiwan’s First School. It is a first-class historical site in Tainan’s West Central District. There is an illusion of traveling through time and space in the building. The carvings are gorgeous and traditional, and all of them are vermilion. It is magnificent and elegant when you go in. The whole thing is grand and dignified. It must have been a lucky and enviable thing to study there at that time. After the years and several wars, some places were damaged, but through the renovation and reconstruction of the Tainan City Government, such a beautiful and quaint first-class historical site as the Confucius Temple was preserved.
