Alongside a demonstration of creative mango dishes, Mayor Huang presented the minister with a Ruby Gift Box containing five mango varieties, so he could taste the range of Tainan mangoes.
Mayor Huang Wei-che noted that Tainan produces more mangoes than anywhere else in Taiwan, with excellent quality and a distinctive flavour, and thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and TAITRA for opening international channels for Tainan mangoes. Sales in South Korea, Japan and Singapore have gone well in recent years, giving farmers a return that matches their effort. The Tainan Mango Festival at Tsou Ma Lai Farm on 27 and 28 June will showcase mangoes of many flavours and welcome buyers from overseas, in the hope that more people come to know how good Tainan mangoes are.
According to the Agriculture Bureau, the 2026 Tainan International Mango Festival takes as its theme a fragrant Tainan and a sweet midsummer, with the main event and opening held at Tsou Ma Lai Farm on 27 and 28 June. The programme includes mango-themed hands-on workshops, interactive games, farm produce stalls, food and agriculture education and live performances, and suits families. Admission during the event is NT$100 (usually NT$299), with two NT$50 vouchers included. Visitors from across the country are warmly invited to make the most of peak mango season and experience Tainan’s mango industry and rural character.

In the memory of Tainan people, eating fruit ice carries a sense of ritual. The mango milk ice here has no decorative flourishes; what is tested is the fruit seller’s skill in choosing fruit. Freshly cut Irwin mango covers finely shaved ice, finished with condensed milk that is sweet without being cloying. Bingxiang, Tainan | Mango ice in summer, strawberry ice in winter – a friend you need in every season
In mango season this becomes a place of pilgrimage for anyone who loves mango ice. What makes Bingxiang’s mango milk ice so popular is its insistence on ingredients: several varieties are combined (Irwin, Jinhuang and others), piled across a whole bowl of shaved ice and finished with rich mango sauce and condensed milk. Every mouthful brings a different variety’s balance of sweetness and acidity and its own fine texture. At the height of summer you will often need patience in the queue, but when that substantial bowl arrives, most of the heat simply disappears.
