Tainan Cultural and Creative Park is a special place that blends history and creativity, attracting tourists and art lovers from all over the world to explore. These old factories and warehouses have been renovated and transformed into vibrant and creative cultural gathering places.<\/p>\n

Today I would like to introduce to you five important cultural and creative parks in Tainan to enrich your trip to Tainan!<\/p>\n

1. Ten-Drum Cultural and Creative Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The predecessor of this factory was the Chelukan Sugar Refinery, which was founded in 1909 by the Japanese-funded Taiwan Sugar Refining Company and started production in 1910. Shigu Cultural and Creative Park is Asia\u2019s first international art village with a drum music theme. The park was formerly the Chelukan Sugar Refinery established in 1909. In 2005, part of the factory warehouses were rented out by Taiwan Sugar to Ten Drums Creative Industries to create an “adult version of an amusement park” while allowing the industrial heritage and Taiwanese drum music to continue. Many extreme sports elements have also been incorporated into the park, making it more diverse and rich.<\/p>\n

2. Shuijiaoshe Cultural Park<\/h2>\n

Opened at the end of 2019, the Shuijiaoshe Cultural Park retains the style of a military dependents’ village. The houses are elevated with cement platforms, the walls are inlaid with wooden lattice windows and doors, the drainage pipes run under the brick and tile eaves and then drop steeply, there are dug ditches around the houses, and long reed gardens swaying, but the ecology of the park is not just this. The green leaves in the pond set off the beautiful lotus flowers, the old trees are intertwined around the walls, and people chat and laugh, creating a quiet leisurely stroll together. The park is nicknamed the “Aircraft Village” because there is an F-5E fighter jet stationed in the park.<\/p>\n

3. Cyanotype Cultural and Creative Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\"\"Since the disappearance of the cyanotype on Hai’an Road, it has evolved into a 3D cyanotype in the area formerly known as the old judicial dormitory. When the lights are turned on at night, the dazzling white lines shine on the blue wall. Together with the old tree with yellow lights on the side, it has become a highlight of Tainan at night. Facing the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store Tainan New World, the cyanotype cultural and creative park has been a popular attraction for young people since its opening. The cultural and creative specialty shops inside are worth visiting. The painted walls and art installations in the public areas are even more popular photo spots in the park, attracting many people to linger inside.<\/p>\n
The “Cyanotype Cultural and Creative Park” can be said to be one of the important representative attractions of Tainan’s cultural and creative industries. The cyanotype originally located on Hai’an Road closed down due to the owner’s land reclaiming, which made many fans feel sad. But the good news is that it finally met everyone with a brand new look in 2018. The author Liu Guocang upgraded it to “Cyanotype 2.0” and turned it into a 3D version. The location is at the former site of the “Old Judicial Dormitory.”<\/p>\n

4. Shennong Old Street Pedestrian Area<\/h2>\n

Shennong Old Street is not a regional cultural and creative park, but it has a rich cultural heritage. It has been an important river port entrance to Tainan\u2019s Wujiaogang area since the Qing Dynasty. Merchants at the time entered and exited Tainan from this street. It was the most lively area at the time. Here comes another place with interesting history. After a hundred years of evolution, the original river port has now become a road in the city.<\/p>\n
The street, which was originally in decline due to its old age, has become a gathering place for cultural and creative arts in recent years. Tainan people sometimes jokingly call Shennong Street a sanctuary for literary youths. The shops on both sides of the street are full of handmade styles, and in order to maintain originality, most shops do not allow photography. Please pay more attention to the shop regulations, because every small shop in Shennong Street is definitely worth a careful look for everyone who comes to Tainan. It is definitely not just a matter of walking on the street, but you must go into each shop to have a look.<\/p>\n
V. Shantang Cultural Park<\/h2>\n

Because the dormitories at the Shanhua Sugar Factory of the Taiwan Sugar Corporation had been idle for a long time, they renovated the red brick dormitories to create the “Shanhua Sugar Cultural Park”, introducing a coffee shop, bakery, and art exhibition space, etc., and displaying the Taiwan Sugar steam locomotive that was manufactured in 1948. The Taiwan Sugar chimney can also be seen at the back of the park, emitting the rich aroma of crushing sugarcane to make sugar.<\/p>\n
